Throughout Auburn football's two opening matchups of its SEC slate, one unit that has received a significant amount of attention is the offensive line.
From penalties such as offside and holding calls to giving up an abundance of sacks, the Tigers' offensive line has not had its best showing since conference play began.
Head coach Hugh Freeze previously called on the unit to "strain harder," and during his weekly appearance on the SEC Head Coaches Teleconference, he called on it to do so once again.
"I think we can strain harder, but it's a very difficult ask against those type of rushers," Freeze said. "So I think from a coaching standpoint, first and foremost, it falls on us to find a way to keep us out of those third-and-longs."
Freeze is aware that increasing offensive production begins on the line. A particular focus for the unit during the bye week has been playing with an increased level of discipline.
Additionally, Freeze believes this is an effort that equally applies to the coaching staff.
"It starts up front," Freeze said. "We have to improve our technique, we have to improve our passion and strain. We have to improve as coaches, the positions we're putting them in and demand a disciplined effort, particularly in the things we can control, like pre-snap penalties."
If the Tigers are able to manage a complete reset on the offensive line, and the unit comes out more prepared to take on the remaining challenges on Auburn's schedule, the narrative surrounding the season could flip.
If the offensinve line play and narrative remains the same, Auburn could be at risk of having another season that falls short of the expectations set for the program.
Kickoff between Auburn and No. 12 Georgia is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. ESPN will carry the broadcast, but kickoff time is currently TBA.
