This bye week could not have at a much better time for the Auburn Tigers.
Following a 3-0 start to the 2025 season, including a road victory over Baylor out of the gate, the Tigers appeared to be firing on all cylinders. After they dropped both of their conference-play openers and are in need of time to regroup ahead of the Georgia game.
During this week's edition of Tiger Talk, offensive coordinator Derrick Nix expressed the importance of taking advantage of the extra time it has to prepare for Georgia while also giving attention to areas that need improvement.
Nix believes Auburn's ability to properly scout itself will make a difference.
"You try to do a great job taking advantage of the time," said Nix. You obviously prepare for Georgia. You want to do a great job with our own self scout to see what our tendencies are in order to improve ourselves. Being able to go out at the end of the week, Thursday and Friday, because that's the No. 1 thing you've got to continue to do is get great talent in here."
Another priority for bye weeks is allowing players to rest and rehabilitate. With five games under their belt, the Tigers having a chance to take a breath and regroup could also make a difference against Georgia.
"Getting some key players more rest, lighten some of their reps," Nix said. "A lot of it is you've got to go out in practice. Practice makes permanent. We've got to do those things better so we can be better on Saturday."
Auburn will need to be at its best in order to have a shot at pulling off the monumental upset. Bringing their losing streak against Georgia to an end would go a long way towards helping the Tigers get the 2025 campaign back on track.
For that to happen, however, Auburn must win the bye week. How does a team do that? By not wasting the opportunity it provides.
