No. 24 Auburn had no trouble putting points on the board against Ball State, but it is working to ensure that level of offensive production does not fall off as conference play grows closer.

Wide receiver Horatio Fields, who accounted for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers' 42-3 victory on Saturday, is committed to helping the unit move towards its goal of constant improvement.

"I think we're steady on the climb," Fields said. "I think we try to progress every day. We're trying to push the issue, be a scoring machine. We're working on that every day."

Auburn has plenty of options when it comes to moving the football, having a deep rotation at both wide reciever and running back. This surplus has helped the Tigers get the job done without having to force anything.

While Auburn has already seen some benefits of its effort to consistently improve offensively, there are still plenty of things to clean up. The first that comes to mind is the six sacks it allowed Ball State to record.

Head coach Hugh Freeze wants to see more from each member of the offense, explaining how there are still plenty of improvements to make as a unit.

"I think we can all strain a little more to win at the top end of routes as receivers, quarterback to make sure we’re at the right launch point and we’re progressing through our reads properly, and O-line straining to win for a little longer length of time, and tight ends the same," Freeze said. "It’s not just them, not just the O-line. There’s five of them on every play that get graded, and we’re probably grading them pretty hard right now, but I’d like to see us get off to faster starts in both halves.”

Auburn's offensive line has something to prove, and it will look to do so on Saturday by providing Jackson Arnold with a pocket that is consistently cleaner.

The Tigers will have a chance to put their offensive progression on display when they host South Alabama on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. CT. SEC Network will carry the broadcast.
