The Oregon Ducks could land an explosive wide receiver in the transfer portal.

The Oregon Ducks will be losing wide receivers Malik Benson and Gary Bryant Jr. after the season, and while they certainly have some intriguing young pass-catchers like Jeremiah McClellan and Dakorien Moore, they could use more depth at the position.

That's why many are expecting Oregon to add wide receiver help in the transfer portal, and the Ducks are already slated to visit with former UAB star Iverson Hooks.

Hooks is meeting with seven teams, most of which are big-name schools that will serve as stiff competition for the Ducks.

But it's hard to argue with what Dan Lanning has been able to build in Eugene.

Hooks is one of the more compelling receivers remaining in the portal. The three-star transfer is the 55th-ranked wide out available, via 247 Sports, but certainly not for a lack of production.

During his final season at UAB in 2025, the 5-foot-10 burner hauled in 72 receptions for 927 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging a solid 12.9 yards per catch.

Over the course of his collegiate career, Hooks has totaled 1,225 yards and 10 scores in 28 games, and he was never used in a full-time role until this season.

Of course, we don't know who will be playing quarterback for Oregon in 2026, but based on recent history, the Ducks will probably be just fine at the position, and they may even find their answer under center in the transfer portal.

Knowing who will be taking snaps for Oregon next season might be Hooks more likely to commit, but the opportunity to play for such a successful Big Ten program may be enticing enough as it is.

It would be nice to see the Ducks actually nail down an exact time to meet with Hooks. While he is supposed to visit Eugene, no exact date has been scheduled just yet.

Considering LSU, Auburn and Indiana, among others, are also vying for the upcoming redshirt junior, it's high time for Oregon to get something established.

The Ducks are examining other receivers in the portal, as well, but there is no question that Hooks is one of the more interesting playmakers available.

In the meantime, Oregon is preparing to face Indiana in the Peach Bowl this Friday, so we could probably forgive Lanning if he were a bit distracted right now.
