Oregon, Dan Lanning Predicted to Turn Heads With Massive QB Move cover image

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are being predicted to make a major quarterback move.

The Oregon Ducks were just hammered by the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, so now, they can fully focus on their starting quarterback for 2026.

While Dante Moore has not officially announced anything yet, the general expectation is that he will enter the NFL Draft, which means Oregon will need to find a new answer under center.

The prevailing thought is that the Ducks will find their next quarterback in the transfer portal, and former Nebraska Cornhuskers signal-caller Dylan Raiola has been floated as a potential addition for Dan Lanning's club on that end.

In fact, Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of CBS Sports are projecting Raiola to land with Oregon in their latest Crystal Ball predictions.

A former five-star recruit, Raiola initially committed to Ohio State in May 2022 before decommitting that ensuing winter. He then committed to Georgia, but reneged once again before finally settling on Nebraska in December 2023.

Raiola spent two seasons with the Cornhuskers and was rather disappointing. He threw for 2,819 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during his freshman campaign and followed that up by finishing with 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six picks in nine games this season.

The 20-year-old saw his 2025 campaign cut short by a broken fibula in November, but he is expected to be ready to play next season.

Of course, perhaps a change of scenery could do Raiola some good.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback is certainly talented and could certainly benefit from a terrific coach like Lanning, who has done a tremendous job of developing signal-callers in Eugene. Just ask Dillon Gabriel and Moore.

Raiola is a highly sought-after player in the transfer portal, so the Ducks will definitely have to deal with some stiff competition in order to land him.

But it would not be the least bit surprising if Oregon managed to keep Raiola in the Big Ten by earning a commitment from him soon.

The Ducks went 13-2 this season and have posted back-to-back 13-win campaigns. They have also managed double-digit win seasons in five straight years.

We'll see if Moore ultimately announce his NFL Draft decision soon.
