Oregon Ducks HC Dan Lanning Receives Major Honor cover image

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has been recognized for his stellar season.

The Oregon Ducks went an impressive 13-1 this season and head coach Dan Lanning is being recognized for his stellar season.

Lanning is a Bear Bryant Coach of Year finalist.

The Ducks' only loss of the season was against the Indiana Hoosiers, who are the No. 1 team in the country. Oregon faces Indiana in the Peach Bowl, so Lanning and Co. have their shot at revenge.

Lanning has been at Oregon since 2022. He enters the Peach Bowl with four bowl wins and record of 48-7 in the regular season.

Most people believe Curt Cignetti will win the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award since the Hoosiers went undefeated in the regular season and QB Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy Award.

However, nothing is for certain until the results are announced.

Back on December 31, Lanning made headlines after reiterating his desire to see the college football season end on January 1 every year.

"Every playoff game should be played every single weekend until you finish the season," Lanning said. "Even if it means we start Week 0 or you eliminate a bye, the season ends Jan. 1, and then the portal opens, then coaches that have to move on to their next opportunities get to move to their next opportunities.

Our national championship game this year is Jan. 19, and that's really hard to envision as a coach that's going out and trying to join a new program and start a staff. It's hard for players to understand what continuity looks like and where they're going to be at and to manage that with visits, the portal, everything else that exists. The clear way to do that is to bump the season up and make sure these playoff games happen a lot faster."

For now, Oregon is focused on beating Indiana, but's evident that Lanning wants some changes in College Football.
