The Duke Blue Devils have gotten off to a 5-0 start this season, and while it hasn't always been easy for freshman big man Cameron Boozer, he has certainly flashed tremendous talent, as expected.
Boozer posted 18 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-17 shooting in Duke's win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday. It wasn't his greatest performance, but his persistence was impressive, particularly in the face of a very physical Kansas frontcourt.
Renowned college basketball analyst Jay Bilas loves what he is seeing from Boozer thus far and went as far to compare him to Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero.
"He reminds you a little bit of Paolo Banchero with his build and his game, and that's saying something," Bilas told USA Today.
Banchero, of course, spent one season at Duke in 2021-22, averaging 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 47.8/33.8/72.9 shooting splits.

The 23-year-old was selected by the Magic with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft and has gone on to establish himself as one of the league's top up and coming big men.
Bilas further explained why Boozer reminds him of Banchero.
"He's got a competitive nature to him," Bilas added. "He knows how to play and he's got a maturity that's beyond his age. You can isolate him and he's going to draw a double team. He's got the wherewithal to pass out of it and find an open teammate when he draws a double. He can go through people, he can go around you, he can go over you, he can go through you."
Boozer is registering 21.6 points, 10.2 boards and 4.4 assist through the first five games of the season on 51.5/34.8/76.9 shooting splits.
One of the most impressive aspects of Boozer's game thus far is that he is averaging 7.8 free-throw attempts per game, so the 6-foot-9, 250-pound bruiser is very adept at drawing contact, much like his dad, Carlos Boozer, was during his Duke playing days.
Boozer is widely expected to be a top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and he is already showing exactly why.
Duke will face Niagara in its next game on Friday night. It won't face another ranked opponent until Thanksgiving, when it is set to battle No. 21 Arkansas.
