We should see one of the best college basketball games of the year on Tuesday night, as No. 4-ranked Duke will take on No. 25-ranked Kansas at Madison Square Garden.

Not only will this be a great game, but there was an opportunity that we were going to see two of the top three picks in the NBA draft with Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer.

Peterson has been playing at a very high level for Kansas, while there's a strong argument that Boozer has been the best freshman in the country.

Unfortunately, however, it sounds like Duke and college basketball fans in general will have to wait to see Peterson and Boozer touch the floor together, as it doesn't seem likely that he's going to play.

Peterson is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, and according to legendary Kansas head coach Bill Self, he's going to be out for the immediate future.

“We’re not, obviously, going to have him at least for the immediate future,” Self said, per 247 Sports.. “I just don’t know how long that’ll be.”

“We’ve got some things to discuss,” Self said. “We’re looking at him. He’s getting the best treatment. He will heal … but he’s got tightness in his right hamstring.”

It always sucks to see any player get hurt, no matter the stakes.

A 6-foot-6 freshman out of Ohio, Peterson was already averaging 21.5 points and shooting 60.5% from the field and 50.0% from 3-point range on 6.0 attempts per game.

Given that Duke and Kansas won't play each other again this year, unless they meet in the tournament, it's unfortunate for evaluators that they won't be able to see both of these players on the court.

While injuries are never ideal, this is a great opportunity for Duke to come away with a win. I already expected the Blue Devils to beat Kansas, given that I believe UNC is better than the Jayhawks, but there's really no excuse now.

Regardless of what happens, it doesn't sound like Peterson will get the nod, and we wish him well in his recovery, hopefully returning to the court in the near future.
