First-year head and former Seminole hoops star Luke Loucks is attempting to revive the once-proud FSU basketball program after years of mediocrity.

A new era is about to begin for Florida State men's basketball - with a touch of an old era, for good measure. First-year head coach and former Seminoles basketball star Luke Loucks tips off his tenure for FSU on Tuesday, Nov. 4, when FSU hosts Alcorn State.

Loucks, 35, was pried away from the NBA after years in the league as an assistant coach. His task is to revive a once-proud program that has been middling, at best, for several years running.

Loucks replaces long-time head coach Leonard Hamilton, and FSU is hoping the former Seminole will inject life into the program. FSU's highest ACC finish in Hamilton's last four seasons was a tie for 8th place.

Year One of the Loucks Era has brought a transfusion of new faces to the roster, with 10 new players as part of Loucks' first class. The rookie coach went transfer heavy, plucking seven players out of the portal, along with three high school signees.

Even with those large numbers, FSU's recruiting class was still ranked last in the ACC. Loucks has his work cut out for him, but there are a few players who ought to get starring roles.

An early name to watch is combo guard Robert McCray V. The senior began his career at Wake Forest before transferring to Jacksonville, where he averaged 17.3 points per game over two seasons. McCray scored a team-high 26 points for FSU in an exhibition loss against Alabama last week.

The Seminoles begin their season on Tuesday, Nov. 4, when they play Alcorn State. See the full roster and schedule below.

Florida State women's basketball also begins its season next week, with head coach Brooke Wyckoff entering her fourth year at the helm of the program. The Seminoles will be led by a star transfer, forward Allie Kubek, who has scored more than 1,000 points in her career and helped lead Maryland to the Sweet 16 last year.
