The senior has received many messages of support from Hawkeye Nation on social media since Monday's announcement.

Iowa women's basketball's Taylor McCabe suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's victory over No. 12 Ohio State and will miss the remainder of the season, the program announced in a statement on Monday.

The injury closes an outstanding collegiate career for McCabe, who is 11th on Iowa's all-time list in career three-pointers made. Her .407 percentage from outside ties Kristi Smith for the best in program history. McCabe averaged 8.1 points per game this season and was shooting at a 37 percent clip from distance.

This isn’t how I imagined my senior season ending, but adversity has always been part of the game,” McCabe said in the statement. “I’m committed to my recovery and to supporting my teammates in every way I can the rest of this season. I’m grateful for the love and encouragement from my coaches, teammates, and everyone who has been with me throughout this journey at the University of Iowa.”

McCabe will graduate in May with a civil engineering degree and hops to pursue a graduate assistant position in women's basketball while she attempts to secure a post-graduation degree.

This is incredibly difficult news for Taylor, her family, and our program,”  head  coach Jan Jensen said. “Taylor gave everything she had to this team, and her impact goes far beyond what has shown up on the court. We are thankful, she chose to be a Hawkeye a few years ago and she will always be a part of our Hawkeye family.”

Following the announcement, many loyal Hawkeye fans showed their support for McCabe on X. Here are some of those reactions:
