For Kansas State fans, this week is the ultimate matchup against their in-state rivals, the Kansas Jayhawks.

For Kansas State coach Chris Klieman, it's just another game. Like Kansas coach Lance Leipold, Klieman doesn't want to heighten this matchup to the point where the rest of the schedule is diminished in comparison.

"I try not to think about the game until the week of," Klieman said in his pregame interview. "I’ve tried to do a really good job with that because if you put all your chips in and talk about it in the off-season, and talk about it in the summer, then what’s the value of all these other games that you have played and are going to play?"

While he acknowledges the significance of this game, Klieman doesn't want to overhype it.

"I know it’s a big game for the state, the former players, the fan base, alumni, all that stuff," Klieman said. "But it’s still the next game, and our preparation has to be great Monday through Friday. Saturday's gonna get here fast enough."

Kansas State has the chance to notch its third Big 12 victory and continue its positive trend over the last few weeks. Still, it's no easy feat for the Wildcats. This will be the third consecutive quarterback they've faced that ranks in the top five in the country in passing touchdowns. The defense will have to replicate what they did against TCU quarterback Josh Hoover: create turnovers.

And Jayhawks quarterback Jalon Daniels may be the perfect signal-caller to do that against. He's prone to fumbling the football, most notably against the Wildcats last season, where he fumbled twice in the final five minutes.

The Wildcats play Kansas Saturday afternoon.

K-STATE'S TOBI OSUNSAMNI OUT FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON

Kansas State coach Chris Kleiman confirmed that defensive end Tobi Osunsanmi is out for the season.

A sentence that many Wildcats fans probably knew was the truth, but just didn't want to hear. Kansas State's defense had its best performance of the season last week, turning the ball over three times for 17 points, including two defensive touchdowns. Still, it's not ideal to be without your defensive star the rest of the year. It will take more performances like that of linebacker Desmond Purnell and defensive end Jordan Allen to keep Kansas State afloat.

"We’re gonna rotate a bunch of guys there," Klieman said after the TCU victory. "I was trying to tell them to keep Desmond in the game; he was having one of those days. So happy for him and the game he had."
