
Kansas football dropped its final game of the season to No. 13 Utah 31-21 on Black Friday. The Jayhawks stayed in the game and had multiple chances to take commanding leads, but turnovers and responses from Utah held them back. The Jayhawks dropped their senior day match-up at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
The turning point in the matchup came when Kansas had a chance to go up 21-10 in the fourth quarter, but senior quarterback Jalon Daniels threw an interception in the red zone. The Utes responded with a touchdown drive to go up 17-14. Kansas responded with another drive into the red zone, but Daniels threw another interception; this time, Utah returned it for a touchdown to go up 24-14. Kansas ran the ball well, tallying almost 300 yards, but in the end, it was not enough.
Daniels ended the day with three interceptions that ultimately sunk Kansas’ chances in this one. With the loss, the HJayhawks move to 5-7 and miss out on a bowl game for the second straight season. With 33 seniors getting recognized on senior day, the upcoming offseason looms large for the program.
