Kansas men’s basketball landed another recruit on Friday afternoon. Four-star Luke Barnett, class of 2026, announced his commitment to Kansas.
The six-foot-four guard from Santa Ana, Calif., currently plays basketball for Mater Dei High School. Barnett chose the Jayhawks over two other schools in his top three, including Miami and UNLV.
Barnett announced his commitment live from Mater Dei on Friday on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel.
“Barnett is a shooting specialist,” wrote Adam Finkelstein, 247 Sports Director of Scouting. “He has deep range and a quick, compact release that he hops into. He took over 70% of his shots from behind the arc in EYBL play and while he made 37% of his total threes, he knocked down a whopping 47% of his unguarded catch-and-shoot attempts.”
Barnett joins the program’s class of 2026 as the fourth commit. The class also includes Taylen Kinney, Davion Adkins and Trent Perry. He made his official visit to Lawrence and Kansas on Oct. 17 and has now chosen to become a Jayhawk.
"It's a great culture for me to be in," Barnett said about KU after his commitment.
