Kansas men’s basketball took down Tennessee, 81-76, this week at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. This win meant a whole lot more than a regular win because it was for third place in the tournament. Although third place doesn’t usually mean much in an early-season college basketball tournament, it does at Players Era.

Players Era is a college basketball tournament in which the top three teams receive NIL funds for their programs. The Jayhawks stormed back down 12 to the Vols this week to earn third place and $300,000 for their NIL fund.

Although this team is still without star freshman guard Darryn Peterson, Kansas found a way to finish 3-0 at the Players Era and walk away with some money. The Jayhawks will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 2, for a big non-conference matchup at Allen Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
