Kansas men’s basketball landed another elite recruit on Sunday afternoon. The number one point guard in the class of 2026, Taylen Kinney, announced his commitment to Kansas.

The six-foot-three guard from Kentucky currently plays basketball for Overtime Elite. Kinney chose the Jayhawks over Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville and Oregon.

Kinney announced his commitment on Sunday, live on CBS Sports HQ from his hometown, Newport, Kentucky.

“Kinney is a scoring and playmaking lead guard who is smooth and versatile with his attack," wrote Adam Finkelstein, 247 Sports Director of Scouting. “He’s a multi-level scoring threat with a creative and crisp handle to get to his advanced pull-up game or pressure the rim.”

Kinney is the first Kansas commit to join the program’s class of 2026. He made his official visit to Lawrence on Aug. 22 and has now chosen to become a Jayhawk.
