The LSU Tigers have landed a commitment from top 2027 quarterback Peyton Houston, giving them at least a little bit clearer of a roadmap at the most important position in football.
Houston made the announcement at his school, Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA, early on Monday morning. The Tigers have not yet landed a commitment from one of the 2026 high school quarterbacks, so this is a crucial development for them.
The Louisiana high school quarterback class is incredibly deep in 2027, so it would have been a massive disappointment to not keep at least one of the top guys in state.
Houston is the No. 126 overall recruit in the nation per 247Sports' composite rankings. He is the No. 11 quarterback in the country and the second-ranked quarterback in the state. Elijah Haven, out of Dunham School, and Malachi Zeigler from Benton are both elite passing prospects that the Tigers will be sure to keep tabs on.
Another interesting note in this quarterback class is that Colton Nussmeier, brother of current LSU star, is a four-star out of Flower Mound, TX. He does have an offer from the Tigers and is the fifth-ranked player at his position.
Houston is already a record-breaking passer, who set the new Louisiana 5A mark for passing yards a year ago with 4,480 yards as a sophomore. He completed 70% of his passes and threw 48 touchdowns to just six interceptions.
He isn't known for his legs, but did pick up 690 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
The passing savant has an arm talent that will be beat by few and will be fun to watch. There is a chance that he is ready to play as a true freshamn.
