The LSU Tigers get to take a little bit of a breather on Saturday after the slugfest with the Clemson Tigers, with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on deck.
Though anything can happen, the Tigers should be able to jump out to an early lead and let the backups get some reps in the second half. Guys who didn’t start last week or are looking for any type of extended playtime should be chomping at the bit to take advantage of any opportunity they are given.
Here are four LSU players who could really benefit from seeing the field against the Bulldogs:
Berry is a dynamic five-star talent, who has drawn comparisons to college football legend Reggie Bush. It’s less of a matter of if he breaks out and more of when.
It makes sense that the Tigers didn’t want to put too much weight on him this past weekend, just one rush, but this Saturday makes perfect sense to increase his workload.
LSU desperately needs more help in the run game from players not named Caden Durham and Berry is the perfect candidate. His athleticism should outmatch anyone on Louisiana Tech’s roster.
This one just boils down to wanting to see Pickett in action even more, he’s already had his first taste of action with 25 impressive snaps against the Tigers of Clemson.
The 6-foot-5 cornerback should get even more burn against the Bulldogs. After going relatively unnoticed last weekend, a good thing for a cornerback, all eyes will be on him when he hits the field this time.
He was targeted just once in coverage and that pass fell for an incompletion. It’ll only get harder to keep him off the field if he can start stacking performances like that.
It is year three for Parker in Baton Rouge and it feels like a breakout campaign is starting to bubble. LSU has a ton of competition for snaps at wide receiver this year, which means everyone must make the most out of their chances.
The redshirt sophomore had a clutch third-down catch that went for 16 yards last Saturday to set up the game-tying touchdown, but that was his only catch.
During his high school years in Texas, he was a reception machine and projects as a perfect slot option at some point. As a redshirt sophomore, though, time is likely running out for that to happen with the Tigers.
