UNC Handles More Than Just on the Court Business in 94-54 Win Over Central Arkansas.

They can finally take a deep breath in Chapel Hill. Not because Central Arkansas was anything to be concerned about, but because Luka Bogavac was finally cleared by North Carolina about a half hour before tip off tonight.

The silence around that situation over the last week would lead you to believe that the Heels were going to have to start their season without the international transfer that quite frankly sounds like he's going to be a key piece of the Tar Heels being what they are expected to be this year.

He was cleared by the NCAA a few weeks ago, but for some reason there was a holdup with the university. We won't speculate about what that was, but it certainly would have been a bad look to have started the season without Luka and not being able to figure that situation out in a year that has a ton of pressure on the Tar Heel basketball program and specifically Hubert Davis.

Luka was not able to play in either of the Heels' exhibition games, which was likely why he did not start for Carolina tonight, but instead was the first player to come off the bench. He was greeted by a loud Smith Center ovation when he checked in for the first time during a pair of Seth Trimble free throws. Luka would finish with 10 points and 5 assists on the night.

The other big stary of the night was of course, Caleb Wilson. He comes into this season likely being the Tar Heels' first lottery pick since Coby White and Cam Johnson in 2019.

It may have been against Central Arkansas, but if tonight and what we saw in the BYU exhibition are any indicator, Caleb Wilson is about to be an absolutely spark plug for the Tar Heels and one of the premier players to watch in college basketball.

Within the first five minutes, Caleb Wilson had four dunks with a couple of those being alley oops. He finished with 22 points, with seven of his eight field goals on the night being dunks. That's about as efficient as it gets.

After the game, Hubert Davis compared the bounce and sheer volume with which Caleb Wilson dunks to that of Tar Heel legend, Brice Johnson.

Kyan Evans also looked like a really nice fit at starting guard for the Tar Heels, tonight. He showed an ability to get rid of the ball, move, and play off the catch in a way we haven't  seen from a Tar Heel guard in a number of years.

Tonight was a nice first showing for some new faces and a dress rehearsal for a much bigger task when no. 19 Kansas makes their first ever trip to the Smith Center on Friday night.
