The Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business in Week 6 and set their sights on an Illinois team big-win hunting.

Week 6 in college football was full of upsets around the nation, but not in Columbus. Out west in Pasadena, the Penn State Nittany Lions were stunned by the UCLA Bruins, while the Texas Longhorns slipped down in Gainesville to the Florida Gators.

Upset was on the Minnesota Gophers' mind, but the Ohio State Buckeyes are too good and too professional to allow that to happen to them.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes Took Care of Business Against Minnesota, Set Sights on Illinois Ohio State: The Buckeyes Took Care of Business Against Minnesota, Set Sights on Illinois The Ohio State Buckeyes set their sights on the Illinois Fighting Illini. Illinois is trying to wash the bad taste out of its mouth from the beatdown it took...

They came out against Minnesota on a mission, and after a slow first quarter, they put it into fifth gear and pulled away.

The Buckeyes scored in every way possible. They had one huge touchdown to Carnell Tate, Jeremiah Smith put out a route masterclass against his defensive backs several times, and Bo Jackson found the end zone after a hard run. All of them played a huge part in the big win.

Ohio State is pulling away from the rest of America. Each week, the team is getting better and proving that it has one of the five programs in the country with a chance at winning a national title.

So, which other schools can play on the same level as the Buckeyes? The list is very short.

    • Oregon Ducks - The Ducks are doing what they are supposed to do each and every week. After the major emotional win in the Penn State whiteout, they had the week off. Oregon has a quarterback who can lead it back to the playoffs, with several elite pieces around him. Any Dan Lanning-coached team is always going to have a chance. The Ducks will be back in the mix this year.
    • Miami Hurricanes - The U is all the way back. Senior quarterback Carson Beck steals the headlines, but this team is much deeper than just one position. They have a really good defensive line and a very strong offensive line to go with a plethora of solid receivers. The Canes have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
    • Texas Tech Red Raiders - This is my one shocker. The Texas Tech Red Raiders have the best roster money can buy, and they don't care who knows it. They overhauled their roster from top to bottom and have quickly become the frontrunner to win the Big 12.
    • Alabama Crimson Tide - The Crimson Tide are on the 2024 Ohio State arc. After a brutal loss to the Florida State Seminoles, they have ripped off wins at Georgia and against Vanderbilt. More importantly, they have looked much better each week and are showing improvement.

The Buckeyes are proving that they are a very tough matchup when they have the football. It is a true pick-your-poison approach for opponents. Take one guy away, and four others are licking their chops to take the game over.

Do that behind a great offensive line and a young quarterback who plays flawless football, and you have a recipe for success.

The Illinois defense will have its hands full on Saturday, while the Buckeyes' offense will be poised to take off.
