The other Cowgirl victory was in their first meeting in 1976, 67-66. Though Langston University is right down the road from Stillwater, these teams really don’t know one another.

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will play its thirdcontest of the year. Thursday’s contest is the third of a five-game home stretch to open the campaign. This is the second game of back-to-back contests for the Cowgirls. Wednesday night, Oklahoma State leveled the East Texas A&M Lions, 97-59. Haleigh Timmer dropped a team high 22 points, while Stailee Heard and Micah Gray both added 13 points. East Texas A&M trailed by just four at the end of the first period. Cowgirls head coach, Jacie Hoyt, would then make the necessary defensive changes in the second period, limiting the Lions to only six points, while the Pokes dropped 23 to make the lead 45-24 at half. The Cowgirls continued the onslaught and outscored East Texas A&M 52 to 35 in the second half.

The Cowgirls opponent, the Langston Lady Lions, are coming off 41-121 blowout loss, in an exhibition game, against the LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball program on October 30th. Lady Lions head coach, Chris Vincent is in his second year at Langston. Last year, Vincent led the Lady Lions to a 31-3 record and won both the Regular Season Sooner Athletic Conference Championship and the SAC Tournament Championship. Vincent’s win total tied the record for most single season wins in program history. The Lady Lions went on to make a Round of 16 appearance in the NAIA Tournament. The Cowgirls will look to keep rolling for their third game of the season and should defeat, in-state opponent, the Langston Lady Lions.
