Previewing the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Women’s Basketball Season for the 2025-2026 year

Oklahoma State Cowgirls Women’s Basketball coach, Jacie Hoyt, enters her fourth season as the leader of the Cowgirls. Hoyt was previously the head coach at Kansas City and has a career record of 141-100. She is 60-35 at OSU. She’s led the Cowgirls to two NCAA Tournament appearances and Kansas City to a WNIT bid.

    Last Season Recap:

25-7, 14-4 in Big 12, third place. Lost in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament to Baylor. Lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to South Dakota State.

    Roster Review:

    Players who have left:

G Anna Gret Asi, F Maria Anais Rodriguez, G Rylee Langerman, G Brenna Butler, F Stacie Jones, G Kennedy Evans, G Alexia Smith, G Landry Williams, C Tenin Magassa.

    Returning players:

G Micah Gray, G Jadyn Wooten , G Macey Huard, F Praise Egharevba, G Stailee Heard

    Key players to watch:

Guard, Macey Huard, has garnered a lot of preseason attention, despite coming off of the bench. She will be a non-starter to watch going forward for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and could be factor in determining how far of a postseason run the Cowgirls could make.

    Projected starters:

G Stailee Heard: Expect Heard to continue to lead the Cowgirls in scoring.

G Amari Whiting: Whiting transferred from BYU and could be a great get for the Cowgirls.

G Micah Gray: Gray could compete with Heard for the Cowgirls leading scorer.

G Haileigh Timmer: Dangerous from deep, Timmer will be instrumental in spacing the floor for Oklahoma State.

F Achol Akot: Akot has a big presence down low and will be important for the Cowgirls in winning the box score boards.

    Games to Circle:

    Nov 9: against Oral Roberts

The Cowgirls has an early game against an in-state foe. This game is important as a tone-setting game for the rest of the season. The Cowgirls should be able to take care of business.

Nov 29: against Miami – in Grand Cayman

The Cowgirls get a bit of a Caribbean trip vacation and will face the Miami Hurricanes. Miami has been stout in the past few seasons, and this will be the Cowgirls first true test. It is imperative that Hoyt and the Cowgirls have a good showing.

    Dec 13: Bedlam – OU

The Cowgirls will play the Sooners in Oklahoma City on December 13th, 2025. While the teams don’t share the same conference any longer, putting this game in the win column would be huge for the Oklahoma State Women’s Basketball team.

    Dec 31: against Baylor

Baylor’s Women’s Basketball is a dominant force. If coach, Jacie Hoyt, would like to entertain company with the best, she’ll have to beat the best.

Feb 25: in Ames – against Iowa State

Iowa State Women’s Basketball has shown flashes of greatness in prior seasons. This will be one of the last games of the regular season for the Cowgirls. It could be an important game for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls leading into March and could determine NCAA Tournament seeding.

    Prediction:

I believe head coach Jacie Hoyt, will continue her success with the Cowgirls basketball team in the 2025-2026 season. I believe the Cowgirls will be a dark horse for a Big 12 title and should have no problem making the NCAA Tournament. How far they could go in March remains to be known, but Hoyt and the Cowgirls have big aspirations for this season.
