    Series:

The Cowboys and the Panthers will face off for the fourth time ever on Wednesday evening. The Cowboys lead the series 3-0, with the last match being in November 2022. Those three contests have all been in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State's Men’s basketball team will play its third contest of the year. Wednesday’s contest is the third in a stretch of six Oklahoma State home games to start the regular season, continuing Sunday against Texas A&M-CC. The Cowboys are 15-4 at Gallagher-Iba Arena under second-year head coach Steve Lutz.

In their last matchup, the Cowboys took care of business against the Texas A&M Aggies, 87-63. That game saw Cowboy senior guard, Christian Coleman, lead all scorers, with a game-high 16 points. Sophomore guard, Vyctorious Miller, was right behind Coleman adding an additional 15 points, while Cowboys starters Jaylen Curry and Parsa Fallah added 12 points each. Oklahoma State junior guard, Isaiah Coleman, came one rebound shy of a double-double, posting 13 points and 9 boards. Coach Lutz had a great defensive scheme to slow down the Aggies and Texas A&M’s only lead was when they scored the first bucket of the game.

The Cowboys opponent, the Prairie View A&M Panthers, posted an abysmal 5-27 record in the 2024-2025 season. However, since assuming the head coaching position, Byron Smith has guided the Panthers as a regular top level team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Smith led Prairie View A&M to a pair of SWAC regular season championships (2018-19, 2019-20) and a SWAC Tournament title (2019). The Panthers last matchup was on Saturday, November 8th, where they fell 62-105 to Wichita State.

Cowboy Player to watch in game three:

Senior guard – Anthony Roy (if he plays)

Anthony Roy, the Green Bay transfer, who was the nation’s top leading scorer in the prior season, could return to the hardwood on Wednesday. This would be the first time he would play for the Cowboys this year, as he’s been out due to an injury. Listed at 6’5, Roy is a versatile scorer who averaged 25.7 points per game last season. Cowboy fans are itching to see him in orange and I believe this will be fans first chance Wednesday evening.
