Texas A&M drops 120 points, its highest total this century, as Zach Clemence and Jamie Vinson post career nights in a blowout win over Mississippi Valley.
Texas A&M didn't just win on Tuesday night. It detonated the scoreboard.
In a 120-84 demolition of Mississippi Valley, the Aggies unleashed their most explosive offensive performance of the century, crossing the 120-point mark for the first time in the 2000s.
Under first-year head coach Bucky McMillan, A&M improved to 5-2 and ran its winning streak to three games in emphatic fashion.
At the center of it all were two newcomers who chose the perfect night to deliver career performances. Zach Clemence and Jamie Vinson both posted career highs in scoring, showcasing the depth and upside of a roster that appears to be finding its stride.
Clemence, the Kansas transfer, has quietly become one of the most impactful pieces on this A&M squad, and Tuesday felt like his coming-out party.
Logging his usual workload - he's averaging 17.1 minutes per game this season - Clemence poured in a career-best 15 points. It wasn't just the volume that stood out, but the completeness of his stat line.
Against Mississippi Valley, he set season highs across the board, field goals made, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, plus blocks and steals.
It's been a long road for Clemence, who redshirted the 2023-24 season and then lost most of 2024-25 to injury at Kansas.
Before arriving in College Station, he appeared in 20 games as a sophomore in 2022-23 and was part of the Jayhawks' 2021-22 national title team, seeing action in 24 contests.
Now healthy and trusted, he’s already up to 54 total points through seven games as an Aggie and trending sharply upward.
Vinson, an Austin native and former Texas Longhorn, matched Clemence’s breakout with one of his own.
After scoring just 20 points across his entire freshman season in Austin, he has already blown past that number with 32 points this year at A&M.
Against Mississippi Valley, he finished with a career- and season-high 12 points, splitting the damage between seven in the first half and five in the second.
Just as important, Vinson owned the glass.
He pulled down a team-high six rebounds, three offensive and three defensive, constantly extending possessions and fueling the Aggies' 120-point avalanche.
For McMillan and the Aggies, the timing couldn't be better.
After early losses to Oklahoma State and UCF, A&M has ripped off three straight and now heads to Tampa for a challenging road test against Florida State.
If Clemence, Vinson and the rest of the supporting cast keep trending this way, the Aggies' record-setting night may only be the beginning.
