The Tulane Green Wave has slipped completely out of the voting for the Week 11 AP Top 25 poll.
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as the Green Wave looked completely lost in its 48-26 loss to the UTSA Roadrunners on Thursday night. Now, the team has to dig out of a mighty big hole, and with just four games left in the regular season -- and a handful of American Conference teams in front of them in the standings -- that's going to be tough to do.
Here's a look at this week's AP Poll in its entirety.
Once again, College Football Playoff contender Memphis is the only Group of Five team to be ranked this week, but quite a few others received votes. James Madison, a Sun Belt Conference team, has quietly put together a 7-1 season to make a run for the G5 spot in the CFP. In the American Conference, North Texas and South Florida are trending in the right direction as well.
Where does this leave Tulane? At this point, the team can't afford to mess up... at all. Even a perfect showing from here on out might not be enough. That's a hard pill to swallow, but the Green Wave have to somehow find a way to be the same team that it was at the beginning of the year.
That starts on Friday against rival Tigers in what will ultimately be the biggest game of the entire season for Tulane. A win on the road against a ranked opponent who happens to be the conference's top team would do wonders for the Green Wave, and suddenly, the team would be right back in the CFP conversation.
A loss essentially ends the season... no pressure.
