SEATTLE -- The University of Washington football family is doing all it can to help out Seattle Mariners fans in attendance at Husky Stadium on Friday night.
The Huskies are taking on Rutgers in a rare Friday Big 10 game at Husky Stadium, with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. PT. Across town, the Mariners will be facing the Detroit Tigers in Game 5 of the American League Division Series. First pitch at T-Mobile Park is set for just after 5 p.m. PT, with the winner clinching a spot in the American League Championship Series.
Washington football posted on "X" that they will be showing the Mariners game all around the stadium during pregame, and they will also be showing live look-ins and replays.
"Tonight's ALDS Finale will air on our main video boards, concourse TVs, and in premium spaces pregame, with live looks and replays in-game."
The Mariners haven't been to the ALCS since 2001, when they lost to the New York Yankees. M's players Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh, Emerson Hancock and Bryan Woo recently went to the Washington-Ohio State game to "Sound the Siren," furthering the partnership between the two programs.
As for the Huskies, they enter play on Friday at 4-1 overall. They just beat Maryland to move to 1-1 in Big 10 play. After Rutgers, they will head to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan.
Anecdotally, there are a lot of Rutgers fans in town, as it's the first trip to Seattle for the Scarlet Knights since Washington joined the Big 10 in 2024. It's unclear how the presence of the Mariners game will impact the crowd at Husky Stadium, but it's certainly possible that it takes away from the environment in some way.
Rutgers is 3-2 on the campaign.
