Former University of Michigan tight end and current Big 10 media personality, Jake Butt, is a big fan of the University of Washington football team heading into this Saturday's matchup with his alma mater.
In a recent media segment, Butt said that he thinks Huskies' quarterback Demond Williams Jr. is one of the the most dangerous, if not the, most dangerous quarterbacks in college football.
He also said that Washington "absolutely" has a chance to be a college football playoff team, citing a relatively easy schedule following the Michigan game, though he did note tough matchups against Illinois and Oregon still to come. Both those matchups are at home, whereas this Michigan matchup is on the road.
The Huskies enter play at 5-1 and on the heels of a 38-19 win over Rutgers, while Michigan is 4-2 and comes in reeling off a 31-13 loss against USC.
The two teams met last year, with Washington winning 27-17, but Williams was not the starting quarterback at that time, and he should give Michigan a different look.
To Butt's point, Williams is incredibly dynamic, having thrown for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns. He's also run for 382 yards and four scores. He has only one interception thrown.
Following Michigan, Washington will play Illinois, at Wisconsin, vs. Purdue and at UCLA before getting Oregon.
Butt was a fifth-round pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2017 NFL Draft and he played two seasons with Denver, amassing 10 catches and 90 yards. At Michigan, he had 11 touchdowns in four years, averaging 36.6 yards per game.
Kickoff between Washington and Michigan is set for 9 a.m. PT on Saturday. The game will air nationally on FOX.
