On Friday night, the University of Washington football team defeated Rutgers at Husky Stadium.
On Saturday night, the good vibes continued as the university athletic department officially inducted former wide receiver Reggie Williams into the school's Hall of Fame.
He is the only player in school history to have three 1,000 yard seasons. And he is also the school's all-time receptions leader.
Washington put out a nearly three-minute video with testimonials about Williams's greatness. His brother was included, as were multiple former teammates, including former quarterback Cody Pickett.
Pickett referenced an incredible play that Williams made to help win an Apple Cup against Washington State and said he was lucky to have Williams as a teammate and a brother.
The testimonials also referenced his hard work behind the scenes and the diligent preparation he put into his craft.
Williams had 238 receptions in three seasons in Seattle, leading the Pac-10 with 94 catches in 2002. He also had 1,454 yards that season, which also led the conference. He had 22 total touchdowns in those three seasons, averaging 98.2 yards per game for his career.
One of the most dynamic receivers Washington has ever seen, he was a first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004.
His Huskies resume didn't fully translate to the NFL, where he spent all five years with the Jaguars. He had 189 catches in five years and he put up 2,322 yards. He had 10 touchdowns in 2007 which accounted for more than half of his career total (18).
His Jags tenure ended in 2008, and he spent 2009 out of football. He got a look with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, but did not play in a game.
Regardless of how his pro career went, his time at Washington was special, and his Hall of Fame inclusion shows that.
After beating Rutgers, Washington is now 5-1 on the season. They've got wins over Colorado State, UC Davis, Washington State, Maryland and Rutgers. They are 2-1 inside Big 10 play and will play on the road at Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
