The Chicago Bears marched up and down the field all day on Sunday, right up until they let the Cincinnati Bengals back in the game with two late touchdowns. Thankfully, the Bears had one last magic drive left in their bag of tricks.
With 35 seconds left and suddenly trailing by a point, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams ran for 14 yards on third down, and then hit tight end hit tight end Colston Loveland over the middle. He broke a few tackles, then took off for the end zone. No one caught him, and he had a 58-yard score — and a Bears victory.
With the win, the Bears are now 5-3. For a franchise that's only had won winning season since 2012, this is a refreshing start. What a win. Here's the game story from Bears Roundtable reporter Grant Bricker.
Bears Outlast Joe Flacco's Bengals as Rookie Colston Loveland Plays the Hero
A rookie hero's touchdown seals a wild offensive shootout. Bears ignite with season-high points, narrowly topping Joe Flacco's Bengals in a back-and-forth thriller.
First-year coach Ben Johnson has the Bears heading in the right direction, though the defense needs to quit blowing big leads. Chicago gave up 42 points — and still won.
It was a good day to win because they got plenty of help, too. The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions — both touchdown favorites at home — lost to the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings, respectively. It tightened up the race completely in the NFC North.

The Bears are now tied with the Lions and trail the Packers by only a half game. The Vikings are 4-4, which means the entire division is .500 or better.
"Overall, [I'm] just really proud of the group and how resilient they were," Johnson told reporters after the game. "A number of things weren't pretty or clean, but I think what we've learned about this group through the first half of the season is that they're an extremely resilient bunch.
"They show up, they're going to fight you all 60 minutes and they really don't waver; I give them a lot of credit for their poise."
The Bears are back in action on Sunday, taking on the 2-7 New York Giants, who have lost three straight games.
