Ben Johnson tunes out the noise, focusing on unlocking the Bears' true potential beyond Sunday's favored matchup with the Saints.

However, that doesn't concern head coach Ben Johnson, who revealed at a recent press conference that it's rare for him to pay attention to that kind of thing unless someone shows it to him.

Johnson is five games into his Bears tenure and stated that he's trying to focus more on helping the team reach its fullest potential before December rolls around. The Bears definitely still have areas where they can improve, ranking 11th in passing yards per game (241.2) and 18th in rushing yards per game (110.8).

"I didn't know that we were favored," Johnson said. "I don't really pay a ton of attention to that type of stuff, unless it gets shown to me. It wasn't this week. That's what happens when you win three in a row. All I know is that we have yet to play our best football and what we're capable of doing. So, you turn on that tape, there are a number of things we need to clean up, we've talked about. I do think we're getting better at certain aspects, but we're still in a race there, to get as good as we can be before December."

To be fair, there has definitely been a lot of growth for Chicago this season in certain areas too. The Bears currently have the fourth-fewest passing yards allowed per game in the NFL, at 219.4. Chicago is second in takeaways heading into Week 7 at 12, with only the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of them at 14.

On the flip side, the Saints are allowing the 10th-fewest passing yards per game (224.5) and ninth-fewest rushing yards per game (114).

Sunday's matchup will feature a pair of former Oklahoma teammates, as Caleb Williams will face Spencer Rattler for the first time as NFL quarterbacks. The two spent one season with the Sooners in 2021.

Rattler won the starting job that season, before Williams took over following his benching. Williams and Rattler both transferred different programs after that season. Williams went to USC and the Heisman in 2022, and Rattler left for South Carolina.

Fans will be treated to what should be an exciting matchup between the former teammates on Sunday. Kickoff will be at noon CT on Fox live from Soldier Field.
