Dennis Allen reveals that Ja'Marr Chase's multifaceted dominance, from speed to catch radius, poses a nearly uncontainable threat, even with backup quarterbacks.

Facing a player like Ja'Marr Chase is enough to give defensive coordinators nightmares, even when it's not close to Halloween like this.

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will have his hands full with Chase, who is putting up solid numbers even without his starting quarterback in the lineup.

Joe Burrow has been out with a turf toe injury since Week 2, resulting in Jake Browning filling in at first. Browning accounted for 757 passing yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions before being benched.

The Cincinnati Bengals went and traded for Joe Flacco, who has looked very impressive, throwing for 787 passing yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.

At Thursday's press conference, Allen was asked about the most dangerous part of Chase's repertoire, and he noted how there isn't one weak point of the receiver's game.

"All of it, you know what I mean?" Allen said. "Look, he's got good speed. He's got a really good catch radius. He really basically catches anything that's anywhere near him. He does a great job of getting in and out of breaks. I mean, his transition skills are outstanding. He's just, I mean, an exceptional player. You know, when you watch the tape, you know, especially over the last few weeks, you know they're feeding some targets to him, and there's times I look on the tape, I'm like there's two dudes draped all over him and they're still throwing the ball to him."

In Burrow's absence, Chase is still second in the NFL in receiving yards with 720 so far, including five touchdowns. The only player ahead of Chase is Seattle Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba (819).

Another reason that taking on Chase and the Bengals' receiving corps should scare Allen is the injuries to the Bears' defensive backs. Chicago will be without Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon due to groin injuries.

Johnson hasn't played since Week 2, while Gordon just went on the injured reserve and will miss the next four games at least. On top of that, Tyrique Stevenson is dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out of the Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday.

To counteract the injuries, the team brought in veteran defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Gardner-Johnson was on the Philadelphia Eagles last season and has been with the Houston Texans and Ravens this year.

We'll see if Chase has more tricks or treats for the Bears this Sunday at Paycor Stadium.
