Buffalo is the Last Remaining Unbeaten Team in the AFC

Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the New Orleans Saints was likely a little closer than the Buffalo Bills would’ve liked heading into the fourth quarter, but ultimately, they turned on the offense and pulled away late for a 31-19 victory.

Quarterback Josh Allen threw for 209 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and he rushed for another 45 yards and a score.

Running back James Cook added 117 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Khalil Shakir led all receivers with five catches, 69 yards, and a touchdown.

The win leaves the Bills as the last-remaining undefeated team in the AFC (4-0) and just the second unbeaten team in the NFL along with the Philadelphia Eagles (4-0).

After the win, the Bills were fired up, and head coach Sean McDermott delivered a passionate postgame speech in the locker room, as shared by the Bills official X account.

“Listen, I’m serious, you’ve got to celebrate it,” McDermott said. “I know we’re better, and we will be better. It’s a great reminder that we have work to do. We’ve got to stay humble every week, but you have to celebrate these wins. They are hard to come by, man, and we figured a win to win — and that’s the most important piece.

“… Let’s celebrate a couple things. No. 1 — your freaking will to win, man, is incredible. Great job, Josh Allen. Cole Bishop — first NFL interception. Then we got a big-time celebration piece — Jimbo, James Cook, broke a Bills’ all-time record. Gret job, buddy.”

Cook set a new franchise record with eight consecutive games with a rushing touchdown, passing Bills legend Thurman Thomas. He also became the first Bills RB to rush for 100 or more yards in three consecutive games, also tying Thomas.

“It seems like he’s getting better each and every week, which is hard to imagine” Allen told reporters after the game. “The way that he kind of has this patience to hit the hole, but when he hits it, he is shot out of a cannon, his contact balance is unbelievable, his jump cuts are awesome. I’m glad he’s on our team.”
