Buffalo Has Chance to Take Sole Possession of Intriguing NFL Record

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the top offenses in the NFL, and perhaps more impressive than their league-leading 420 yards of total offense per game is the fact that the team has a potentially record-breaking streak going.

According to ESPN stats & research, the Bills haven’t had a turnover in their last eight games, including the playoffs, tying them with the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs for the longest such streak since 1933.

If they make it out of Sunday’s Week 4 matchup with the New Orleans Saints without a turnover, they’ll have sole possession of the record.

The last time Buffalo turned the ball over was in a 24-21 victory over the New England Patriots on Dec. 22 of last season — a streak that’s spanned more than 270 days.

During that span, quarterback Josh Allen has thrown for 1,573 yards and 11, and he’s rushed for 236 yards and five more touchdowns. Allen was recently asked by reporters what’s changed over the last season-plus that’s allowed him and the rest of Buffalo’s offense to play mistake-free football.

“I think if you look at it from a few different scopes, you have (offensive coordinator) Joe Brady, you have (running back) James Cook, and you have our offensive line, then you have our skill guys,” Allen said, via 13 WHAM’s Dan Fetes.

“Just knowing that handing the ball off and letting James do his thing, and allowing us to see more one-high and split-safety passes, and having a guy like Khalil (Shakir) and Dalton (Kincaid) that you can rely on, plus opportunities outside with Keon (Coleman) and Josh (Palmer), Curtis (Samuel).

“That whole ‘everybody eats’ mentality that Joe has kind of allowed us to take over has allowed me to be free, not worry about so much where the ball is going. There’s been a game where I didn’t have to do much—Week 2…I’m just trying to do what I’m asked to do, and that’s take care of the football and score points.”

The Bills, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only teams without a giveaway this season.
