The Buffalo Bills are one of a handful of NFL teams that don’t currently have a true No. 1 wide receiver (think Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb), which appears to bother many national analysts.
While 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman is having a strong start to the season (14 catches, 158 yards, one touchdown), some are hesitant to buy into his hype just yet, regardless of what Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez said about Coleman prior to Buffalo’s Week 3 “Thursday Night Football” win over the Miami Dolphins.
Behind Coleman, Khalil Shakir (11 catches, 121 yards, one touchdown), Joshua Palmer (eight catches, 113 yards), Elijah Moore (four catches, 64 yards), and Tyrell Shavers (two catches, 24 yards) comprise the rest of Buffalo’s wide receiver corps with Curtis Samuel being a healthy scratch multiple times this year.
Coleman and tight end Dalton Kincaid have seen the lion’s share of targets this season, but the Bills have been linked over the last few days to multiple wide receiver trades from varying sources.
Pro Football Network is among the news outlets that believes a trade for a game-breaking pass-catcher could be in Buffalo’s future, which is why the team was recently (and surprisingly) linked to a trade for Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.
“Tyreek Hill, one of the most electrifying players in the whole league, is in an offense that is totally out of sync and is not getting him the ball in the open for him to do what he does best,” PFN wrote. “If the Dolphins decide to take calls on Hill, there will be a plethora of teams lining up for his services, and this trade could be essential for an offense to take the next step to becoming Super Bowl-ready. He is that good.
“Seeing him return to Kansas City would be interesting, but, in my opinion, there are a few better options for him to achieve the target share he wants and receive the return on investment of both the capital invested in him and his salary. Potential suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs.”
Hill made it known at the end of last season he wanted out of Miami.
His name has been on the trade block for weeks, and while it’s tough to see the Dolphins trading the All-Pro wide receiver to a division rival, if they can get the Bills to overpay for Hill’s services, the two teams could shock the world with a blockbuster trade.
