Not every team in the National Football League can say they have a good, serviceable running back that they feel completely confident in.

The Denver Broncos have two of them.

The ultra-talented running back duo of J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey has been fun to watch all year long, but they have really started to hit their stride together.

In Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, Dobbins had 15 carries for 111 yards and two receptions for 10 yards, while Harvey had seven carries for 46 yards and two rushing touchdowns as well as one catch for five yards and another score.

“After what has largely been a season of struggle for the Broncos' offense, coach Sean Payton made the rare choice to start with the ball after Denver won the coin flip -- and never looked back,” ESPN’s Jeff Legwold wrote Sunday. “The Dallas defense came into the game at (or near) the bottom of the league in every major defensive category, but the Broncos showed their best run-pass mix of the season with scores on five of their first eight possessions. The Broncos, fueled by a ground game that included a 40-yard touchdown run by RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins' second 100-yard rushing game of the season, had 264 yards at halftime. They have scored 77 points in their past five quarters.”

Dobbins averaged 7.4 yards per carry, marking his second-highest single-game average (7.5 against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3) this season.

Dobbins has been phenomenal in his first season as a Bronco, logging 120 carries (seventh in NFL) for 634 yards (third) and four touchdowns. He hasn’t been much of a receiving back in his career, and that has been the case in Denver, catching just nine passes for 32 yards this season.

But considering how successful Dobbins is on the ground (5.3 average yards per carry, 79.3 yards per game), they don’t need him to be a pass-catcher when his rookie counterpart excels in the receiving game.

Harvey has 44 carries for 200 yards and two rushing touchdowns while averaging 25 yards per game. As a pass-catcher, Harvey is fifth on the team with 21 targets. He has hauled in 18 catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns.

The rookie has scored more touchdowns than the teacher, but that isn’t a knock on Dobbins, it is more of an acknowledgement of how hard Harvey has worked to make an impact for the team this early into his career.
