The Cleveland Browns have made a follow-up move after agreeing to terms with rookie running back Quinshon Judkins.

After a long time of waiting, the Cleveland Browns have finally agreed to terms on a rookie contract with Quinshon Judkins. It took so long to sign him to a deal due to some off-the-field issues he had been dealing with, but the two sides have an agreement officially in place.

Following the move to sign Judkins, the Browns followed up with an interesting decision.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Cleveland is expected to get a temporary roster exemption. Judkins will be able to practice with the team, but he won't be allowed to play until the exemption is listed.

"This allows Judkins to practice, but not play until the exemption is lifted. Plus, the Browns don’t need an immediate roster move," Rapoport wrote on X.

Judkins was drafted by the Browns with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. When he was selected, he was expected to be a key role player within the offense as a rookie.

He wasn't the only running back that Cleveland brought in during the draft. The team also went out and brought in Dylan Sampson in the fourth round at pick No. 126.

Entering Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Browns will start Jerome Ford at running back. Sampson will be his primary backup, with Raheim Sanders as the No. 3 back on the roster.

Hopefully, Judkins is able to get up to speed quickly and get back on the field for Cleveland.

During the 2024 college football season with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Judkins helped lead the team to a national championship win. He carried the football 194 times for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 22 passes for 161 yards and another two scores.

There is no guarantee when he will get back on the field. It seems likely that he won't miss much time, but the Browns are not looking to rush him back. Perhaps fans will get their first look at him in Week 2.

Expect to hear more updates about the rookie running back in the coming weeks. Cleveland knows the kind of potential that he has for the future and are looking forward to mixing him into the offensive game plan.
