Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is still an absolute terror, which the Green Bay Packers found out the hard way this past Sunday.
Garrett logged six tackles, a half of a sack and a quarterback hit in the Browns' stunning Week 3 victory, bringing his totals to 16 tackles, four sacks and six quarterback hits on the regular season. He has also posted seven tackles for loss.
On top of all of that, Garrett gave Packers offensive tackle Rasheed Walker — who had previously boasted that Green Bay would go undefeated — the scare of his life in Cleveland's 13-10 victory, beating Walker so badly off the jump that it caused Walker to scream a warning toward quarterback Jordan Love.
Garrett didn't get to Love there, but it forced Love to throw the football away. The Packers signal-caller threw for just 183 yards on the afternoon and also tossed a critical fourth-quarter interception.
The Browns' defense seems to be rediscovering some of its 2023 mojo after taken a bit of a hiatus last season. Cleveland lays claim to the No. 1-ranked defense in the NFL after three weeks, and while it's still very early in the season, it's definitely a positive sign.
Heck, the Browns could easily be 2-1 had it not been for a missed extra point and a missed field goal during their season-opening loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Of course, Cleveland's offense is another story and will probably prevent the team from making any sort of serious run toward the playoffs, but there is no question that the defense once again looks menacing.
Garrett is now in his ninth NFL season, all of them coming with the Browns. He signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the team back in March, a deal that will keep him in Cleveland through 2030.
The 29-year-old has racked up seven straight double-digit sack campaigns and finished with 47 tackles and 14 sacks last season. He is two years removed from winning the Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Browns will face the Detroit Lions this Sunday.
