Are the Cleveland Browns about to make a change under center?

The Cleveland Browns' quarterback situation has been an absolutely mess this season (stop me if you've heard this before), with Joe Flacco having thrown two touchdowns and six interceptions while posting a 60.3 passer rating through four weeks.

But it appears that a change may be coming. At least according to Tony Rizzo of ESPN Cleveland.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has remained very cryptic on any potential decision under center and has gone as far to say that Flacco is not the problem with the offense.

Stefanski is right in that Flacco is certainly not the sole issue, but he is a pretty big one, and at this point, it couldn't hurt to make the switch to Dillon Gabriel.

On Monday, Stefanski was asked point blank if a quarterback change was coming for Cleveland's Week 5 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, and he danced around the question. So, he didn't exactly give Flacco a vote of confidence.

The Browns took a pair of signal-callers in the NFL Draft back in April, selecting Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in Rounds 3 and 5, respectively.

Some have speculated that Cleveland could wait until Week 7 when it faces the Miami Dolphins at home to make a change, noting that the Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers would both represent difficult matchups for Gabriel. Not only that, but neither game is at home, with the Minnesota clash being in London and the divisional battle with the Steelers being in Pittsburgh.

However, Flacco has played so poorly thus far that many have reversed course on their assertion that Gabriel should not see the field until Oct 19.

Realistically speaking, it couldn't hurt for the Browns to give Gabriel a chance now. What is the worst that could happen? Cleveland will probably be drafting another quarterback in the first round next April anyway, so it may as well see what it has in Gabriel, right?

As far as Stefanski is concerned, you kind of get the feeling that his job may be safe based on the lack of urgency to remove Flacco from the lineup, but that's a different topic of discussion.
