Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown caused quite a stir last week when he made a rather alarming social media post following his team's 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading some to believe that he wanted out of Philadelphia.
The post followed Brown logging just two catches for seven yards in the victory, and on the season overall, he has totaled 14 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown. Not exactly typical Brown numbers.
This would not be the first time that the 28-year-old has expressed some displeasure in Philly, and trade speculation has surrounded Brown for around a year now.
Brown declined to speak to the media after the Week 4 win, but he addressed reporters on Wednesday and said that he allowed his frustrations to get the best of him earlier in the week. He was also asked flatly if he were happy with the Eagles.
"Absolutely. This is my home," Brown said. "... I love it here, but you just see frustration, because you want to be great, and I want to be great, as well."
The three-time Pro Bowler added that he took accountability for all of the chatter and conjecture that his behavior after the Buccaneers game caused, but made sure to qualify his statement by saying that he thinks it's fair to want the ball.
"When the game is on the line, give the ball to me. I want that," Brown said.
The Eagles initially acquired Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans in March 2022. He rattled off back-to-back 1,400-yard campaigns over his first two seasons in Philadelphia and even garnered some MVP chatter in 2023. Last year, he finished with 1,079 yards in 13 games, averaging a robust 16.1 yards per catch.
Philadelphia has gotten off to a 4-0 start this season, so you would not think there would be any drama here. However, Philly's offense has labored through the first several weeks. In fact, the Eagles didn't even complete a pass during the second half against Tampa Bay, a big reason why Brown was so aggravated.
We'll see if Philadelphia can maintain its undefeated streak when it takes on the Denver Broncos this Sunday.
