After what seemed to be his final year in the NFL a season ago, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham decided to pick the cleats back up, signing with the Eagles earlier in the week.
Graham was viewed as a very good player for the Eagles in his prime days, including 2022, when he posted 11 sacks.
While he may not be what he once was, it goes to show that signing in Philadelphia again means a great deal to everyone in the organization.
Not only does Graham view the organization as a place he's comfortable in, but it's obvious that he believes he has a chance to win and enjoy himself.
If he didn't, there wouldn't be much of a reason for him to come back to the NFL.
After the pick-up, Saquon Barkley said that having Graham back in the organization would mean a lot.
"I love how you worded that question. If B.G. was to happen to come back to the Philadelphia Eagles, what do I think that would mean? I would think it would mean a lot. Just his presence, his leadership, the way he comes into the locker room...
“The way he comes into the building every single day... It goes throughout the building, from the vets to the young guys, so if B.G. was to sign back, I would definitely be happy. And, if I happen to see him working really hard, I know he will be ready, and if, it's a lot of ifs here, but if he comes back, I think it would really help our team out a lot,” he said, per USA Today.
One aspect I wanted to address in relation to Barkley’s comments is the fact that he mentioned veteran leadership.
I had mentioned a few weeks ago that the Eagles have some of the best veteran leaders in the NFL with Jalen Hurts and Barkley, two guys who need to help A.J. Brown stay calm.
It seems like Brown is still wandering off a bit, but if they can bring guys back in like Graham and others, it only helps.
I don't expect Graham to come in and be an immediate contributor to the defense. However, if he can help tame the locker room a bit, he's worth whatever he'll get paid for the remainder of the year.
