New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields is one of the best runners in the NFL.
Since entering the NFL in 2021, Fields has rushed for 2,687 yards and 22 touchdowns.
In Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins, Fields scored a 43-yard touchdown. It was an electric play Jets head coach Aaron Glenn wasn't surprised by.
"He never ceases to amaze me when he's running with the ball," Glenn said. "Because he's such a big, strong man, able to elude and he has the agility just to make people miss in space. I'm not surprised to see some of those things.
"Now the run itself was amazing because I think he went -- he ran a 43-yard touchdown, but he might've ran 90-some yards to score. But that's who he is. I mean, I expect him to make plays like that just because of who he is. But those are dynamic plays by a dynamic player, so I expect that from him."
The Jets lost to the Dolphins in Week 4 by a final score of 27-21 to drop to 0-4 on the season. Fields finished the game 20/27 for 226 yards. He threw a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson and rushed for 81 yards on seven carries.
New York faces the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Fields believes the Jets need to do a better job of putting themselves in position to win by not turning the ball over and not committing penalties.
NYJ had three turnovers and 13 penalties against Miami.
"We've lost three games by one score," Fields said. "So, I think that's a positive to look at. I think if we clean up turnovers, penalties -- that's definitely going to put us in a better position to secure those wins instead of saying 'we're close' and this and that."
Fields has thrown for 471 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns thus far this season. He didn't play in Week 3 because of a concussion.
"I think to get to that point to where we are securing those dubs, everybody has to be on the same page," Fields said. "And that's not only in this locker room, but that's the coaches as well and everybody else around the building."
Fields signed a two-year deal with the Jets in the offseason. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season and spent the first three years of his career with the Chicago Bears.
