New York Jets (0-3) starting quarterback Justin Fields didn't play in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0) because of a concussion.
Fields suffered a concussion in Week 2 at home against the Buffalo Bills (3-0).
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Thursday that Fields did practice. However, the Ohio State product remains in concussion protocol.
Fields had the worst game of his NFL career in Week 3 against the Bills, going only 3/10 for 27 yards.
While Fields did rush for 49 yards, he had a costly fumble against Buffalo.
The Jets face the Miami Dolphins (0-3) in Week 4 on Monday Night Football. If Fields can't play, veteran Tyrod Taylor will start for New York again.
Taylor went 26/36 for 197 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 3 against the Buccaneers.
Fields, who started six games for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) last season before getting benched for Russell Wilson, played well in his Jets debut in Week 1 against his former team. The dynamic QB went 16/22 for 218 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
Fields began his pro career with the Chicago Bears. He was the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million contract in the offseason after parting ways with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, who signed with the Steelers.
Fields, 26, has appeared in 52 games with the Bears, Steelers and Jets. He has thrown for 8,025 yards and 46 touchdowns and rushed for 2,606 yards and 21 touchdowns in the NFL.
Fields has a 14-32 record as a starter with the Bears, Steelers and Jets.
All signs point toward the Jets missing the playoffs again this season. They are one of six winless teams in the NFL right now.
