In what seemed like a trade deadline that the New York Jets weren't going to do a whole lot outside of potentially moving on from Breece Hall and a few others, the Jets shocked the NFL world in more ways than one.

Not only did the Sauce Gardner deal truly come out of nowhere, but they also decided to keep Hall and others on the roster.

It was a very strange decision from New York, but one that it ultimately decided to make.

The Jets have to feel like they're in a better position than they were just a few days ago, which is a step in the right direction for this organization. Of course, games aren't won by acquiring draft picks, but the Jets really did put themselves in a much better position than they've been in a very long time.

The idea of not trading Hall was interesting for a few different reasons, but on the surface, if the Jets could keep him around after this season, it might not be the worst idea.

According to a CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, that seemed to have been a factor in the Jets' decision, and ultimately, he stated that New York didn't act on its emotions and wanted to get the best possible deals for every player.

It didn't get that for Hall and decided to keep him.

“The New York Jets wowed the entire league with sending away two All Pro players Tuesday. Every person I've spoken to believes the Jets won both trades, especially the Colts deal. It's a testament to how the Jets, led by GM Darren Mougey, set their value on players and did not budge when emotions may have crept in.

“And that's why, I'm told, the Jets did not trade running back Breece Hall or edge rusher Jermaine Johnson. The 24-year-old running back and 26-year-old edge rusher remain with the Jets because no team gave Gang Green what they required to part with them,” he wrote.

The idea of losing Hall for nothing in the offseason is a factor to consider for the Jets.

That's the unfortunate reality of not moving on from a player like him, but it's also possible that New York could look to get something done if it wants to keep its star running back around.
