Leading up to next week's trade deadline, there will continue to be talks about what the New York Jets might do on both sides of the football.

The expectation around the NFL is that the Jets may consider moving on from a few players, with someone like Quinnen Williams being one of the top players they could part ways with.

He was drafted with the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and has been one of the better players in the NFL since. William has had another decent year, despite his sack numbers being lower than typical. In 2022, Williams played the best football he ever has, posting 12 sacks. However, for his other 7 years, he's only posted 28.

Regardless of the sack numbers, it's fair to suggest that Williams could be a big piece on a contending team.

According to the latest report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it sounds like teams are still calling. However, the Jets don't want to move on from him, unless they get the offer they’re looking for.

"The New York Jets finally won a game but that will not stop the calls from coming in inquiring about some of their very valuable players," Schultz said. "Now, there are a number of teams that badly want and need interior defensive line help. A name that has garnered a ton of interest, All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

"The Jets don't want to trade him, but they are willing to listen, considering there is so much interest in the interior defensive line and so many young and aggressive GMs around the league. The idea of a team blowing away the Jets with an offer is at least feasible and one to watch."

That's likely how the Jets are going to approach nearly everyone on the roster. If they were to get offers for some players that just completely blow them out of the water, it makes sense to move on from some of them.

Outside of Garrett Wilson, I really don't think there's another untouchable on this roster.

Williams has shown some promising signs throughout his career and is a very good player, but if the Jets can get back a second-round pick for him, I'd do it all day.
