New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn has opened up on a surprising trade the team made earlier in the week.

The New York Jets made a rather surprising trade earlier in the week, acquiring cornerback Jarvis Brownlee from the Tennessee Titans for a late-round pick swap.

It was a rather jarring move, as many questioned why exactly the Titans decided to basically give away Brownlee for nothing. Nevertheless, the Jets reaped the benefits and have added some much-needed depth to a cornerback room that has experienced some problems early on in 2025.

Head coach Aaron Glenn opened up about the trade heading into New York's Week 4 matchup with the Miami Dolphins, and he seems very pleased with the move.

“I give a lot of credit to Moug (general manager Darren Mougey) and his staff,” Glenn told reporters. “Any time there’s an opportunity to improve your team, you have to take a look at it.”

Brownlee, who played his collegiate football at Louisville, was selected by the Titans in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in every game during his rookie campaign, finishing with 75 tackles, an interception and nine passes defended.

The 24-year-old has played in two games thus far in 2025, having missed Week 3 due to an ankle injury. During his time on the field, he has logged 17 tackles and one pass defended.

“He’s a guy we looked at coming out of Louisville,” Glenn added, referencing his time with the Detroit Lions last year. “He’s aggressive, he’s a hard worker, he plays the brand of football that we believe in, so it was a no-brainer as far as bringing him on the team.”

It was definitely a no-brainer when you consider the cost to acquire him.

The only downside to Brownlee is his tendency to get penalized. He was flagged three times in Week 1 and was also hit with nine infractions last year. However, Brownlee is a young player who definitely has plenty of room to improve in that department.

It also helps that Glenn was a Pro Bowl cornerback himself during his playing days, so he could help Brownlee reach another level as a defender.

The Jets have gotten off to an 0-3 start this season, but they will have a great opportunity to pick up their first win when they battle the also winless Dolphins on Monday night.
