Amon-Ra St. Brown might just be the NFL’s premier wide receiver. While elite pass-catchers like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase dominate headlines, St. Brown’s unique blend of consistency, durability and clutch performances sets him apart. Selected 112th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, St. Brown started slowly on a winless team. But in Week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings, his star began to shine. Catching the game-winning touchdown on the final play, he secured Detroit’s first victory of the season with one reception and one score. That moment marked the beginning of his ascent.
Since then, St. Brown has etched his name in the record books. He shares the NFL record for most consecutive games with at least eight receptions (eight games) and closed his rookie season with eight or more catches in all but one of his final games, including a touchdown in every game but one. His standout performance came in Week 17 of 2021, when he amassed 134 total yards with a receiving and rushing touchdown. Notably, he became the first Lions rookie to score a walk-off touchdown.
The 2022 season saw St. Brown score in just four games, though he notched two touchdowns in two of those contests and recorded over 100 yards four times. Some doubted his greatness, labeling him merely a good receiver. But St. Brown silenced critics in 2023, erupting for an NFL-high nine games with over 100 receiving yards, including one game with 95 yards. He finished the season with 1,515 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in just his third year.
At age 23 in 2022, St. Brown became the youngest Lion to record 1,000 receiving yards and 100 catches in a season, surpassing Calvin Johnson’s franchise record by eight days. He joins Jefferson and Chase as the only active players to earn First-Team All-Pro honors by their third NFL season.
Since 2023, St. Brown leads the NFL with 28 receiving touchdowns, 261catches (No. 1) and 3,085 receiving yards (No. 3), turning nearly every target into a highlight. His durability is unmatched, playing 16 or more games in each of his first four seasons. In 2024, he tied for the league lead with nine red-zone touchdowns on 31 targets, converting 23 catches for 162 yards and becoming a nightmare for defenses inside the 20.
Though his 2025 season started modestly with four receptions for 45 yards, St. Brown exploded in Week 2, hauling in three touchdowns and 115 yards in a Lions rout of the Chicago Bears. On the road against the Baltimore Ravens, he added seven catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, including a game-sealing fourth-down catch while drawing a holding penalty. Most recently, against the Cleveland Browns, he caught all seven targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his league-leading touchdown total to six. This season St. Brown also made history as the first wide receiver since Randy Moss in 2007 to post at least 25 receptions, 300 receiving yards and six touchdowns through the first four games of a season.
With a favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals’ struggling defense next week, St. Brown is poised to extend his touchdown streak. His rapid rise has cemented his status as one of the NFL’s elite wide receivers, and he’s on track to pursue a third consecutive First-Team All-Pro selection. Amon-Ra St. Brown isn’t just a star he’s a Sun God.
