Do the New York Giants have a young Josh Allen?

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart will make his first NFL start in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dart played for Ole Miss last college football season. He threw for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for 495 yards and three touchdowns. The youngster is a talented thrower and runner, which is why the Giants were so excited when Dart fell to them in the draft.

Former NFL player and scout Bucky Brooks thinks Dart has some similar traits of Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen, who won the MVP award last season and played for Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

"In terms of talent and athletic gifts, Dart is not quite on the level of Josh Allen, whom Daboll helped transform into a star while serving as the Bills' offensive coordinator -- but Dart does flash similar traits as a mobile playmaker. From his ability to find creases on option plays and designed quarterback runs to his improvisational skills outside of the pocket, Dart is the kind of dynamic force around whom Daboll can build, with the potential to elevate the weapons in his supporting cast."

With Russell Wilson under center, the Giants averaged 17.3 points per game, good for only 27th in the NFL. The hope in New York is that Dart can help the offense score more points moving forward.

"I'm just gonna lay everything I have on the line," Dart said. "That's just the way I play the game. When I step in between those lines, nothing else in the world matters to me except doing everything I can to win it."

The Giants selected Dart with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old has taken six snaps this season, but he has yet to throw the ball.

That will change in Week 4 against the Chargers.

"The biggest thing for me is I just wanna do my best to be a spark," Dart said. "I wanna create excitement on the field. I wanna be explosive when opportunities are there and try to just bring a little bit of swagger."
