The New York Giants fell to 2-6 on the season after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart went 14-24 through the air for 193 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles. He also scored a rushing touchdown.
After watching Dart's performance in Week 8, NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave the youngster the following grade: C.
"Two-and-a-half weeks ago, the New York Giants were riding high with a victory over the rival Eagles," Sobleski wrote. "Philadelphia came out of that game with significant questions about its offense. Fast forward 17 days. The script flipped. The Eagles bodied the Giants and easily ran away with the victory.
"For the rookie, his effectiveness has been waning. He completed 51 percent of his passes over the last two games. His running has been stunted. The Giants must find ways to set him up for success despite the multiple injuries endured around him, including running back Cam Skattebo."
Dart is 2-3 since taking over for Russell Wilson. He has 984 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, three interceptions, 195 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
The 22-year-old Dart is completing only 59.9% of his passes on the season. That number needs to be much higher moving forward.
"We have to start figuring out ways to win because I do, I hate it, and I’m not used to it and I’m not just going to accept it," Dart said after the Giants lost to the Eagles. "I thought they did just a lot more things better than we did in a lot of areas.
"I don't like the feeling of — I felt they really kind of dominated most of the game. It's an embarrassing feeling."
Dart was sacked five times against the Eagles. The jolt Dart provided has worn off quickly. The Giants won two of his first three starts before an epic collapse in last week's 33-32 loss to the Denver Broncos.
"I'm not ever going to quit," Dart said. "I don't care what the situation is. If I'm on that field, I'm playing as hard as I can."
