The New York Giants are being urged to pursue a pretty wild wide receiver option following the Malik Nabers injury.

The New York Giants are in dire need of a wide receiver after losing Malik Nabers for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL. But will they actually add anyone?

The Giants have until the Nov. 4 deadline to make a trade, and there are also some free agents they can consider signing. In terms of the latter, none of the available options are really all that attractive. But one name keeps being floated as a possibility: Odell Beckham Jr.

Of course, Beckham spent the first five years of his career in New York between 2014 and 2018, establishing himself as one of the most dynamic weapons in football during that time period. He was on an incredible trajectory, but injuries and behavioral issues prevented him from ever truly reaching it.

Now, Beckham is out of football. Last year, he logged just nine catches for the Miami Dolphins before being waived last December. He hasn't landed anywhere since. So why would the Giants make a push for him now?

Yes, New York needs help in its wide receiver room. That's obvious. But would a 32-year-old Beckham — who has a very checkered injury history — actually be able to provide any legitimate assistance at this stage?

The Giants shouldn't just add someone just for the heck of it. It should be a calculated decision, and Beckham is really nothing more than just a big name at this point.

There should be some very intriguing possibilities for New York between now and November. The Giants should not have to settle for Beckham, even if it might hit some Big Blue fans in the feels.

Now, to be clear, unless New York swings a trade for someone like Chris Olave, the Giants are not going to be able to replace Nabers' production this season. It just isn't going to happen. But there should still be superior options to Beckham, and if not, the G-Men may as well just try using Jalin Hyatt.

The idea of Beckham was interesting back in 2022 when there were rumors he could re-join the Giants for a playoff run. But now? Three years later? It just doesn't make much sense.
