Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich of New York Giants Roundtable discuss the team's firing of Brian Daboll in the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.

Well, it's official: the New York Giants have parted ways with head coach Brian Daboll, firing him after yet another fourth-quarter debacle in a Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Not only did the Giants lose the game on Sunday, but they also lost quarterback Jaxson Dart, who exited the contest with a concussion and will probably be sidelined next Sunday against the Green Bay Packers as a result.

Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich of Giants Roundtable discussed the Daboll dismissal at length as well as plenty of other topics surrounding Big Blue in the newest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.

    The topics are as follows:

    • The Giants fired Daboll after a 2-8 start, but was it a bit surprising that they didn't wait until after the season came to a close to make such a move? Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will take over for New York in an interim role for the rest of 2025, which may prove to be rather pointless considering he probably won't be with the team next year anyway.
    • Did Dart's concussion play a role in the Giants' decision to can Daboll? Was owner John Mara perhaps fed up with Daboll constantly putting the rookie quarterback in harm's way? Daboll was obviously fighting for his job, so he may have been a bit too overzealous with how he deployed Dart this season, using a bunch of designed run plays that that he may have been a bit more cautious with had his job for 2026 been guaranteed.
    • Joe Schoen is currently staying on as New York's general manager, but how long will that last? Will the Giants simply can him at season's end? Or will he actually get one more chance to prove himself? Schmidt and Feltovich went over Schoen's track record as GM, noting what he has done right and what he has done wrong throughout his tenure, which began back in 2022.
    • The Giants blew yet another fourth-quarter lead, this time falling in spite of leading the Bears 20-10 with about five minutes remaining on Sunday. It marked the third fourth-quarter edge New York has blown this season, which is symptomatic of the losing culture that has permeated through the franchise for the last decade-plus. How can the Giants fix it? Will a new head coach-general manager tandem be able to save Big Blue?
    • Do the Giants stand a chance against the Packers in Week 11, especially without Dart? Can Russell Wilson actually lead them to victory? And what will Kafka's head-coaching debut look like in the Big Apple? Schmidt and Feltovich also ran through some potential head-coaching candidates for New York in 2026.

All that and more in the fourth episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
