Well, the New York Giants' worst fears were confirmed true on Monday, as wide receiver Malik Nabers was diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
Everyone pretty much knew this would be the outcome when Nabers was carted off of the field during the Giants' win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but there was at least a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, the MRI results wouldn't be quite so devastating.
Nevertheless, here we are, and now, New York's receiving corps is in dire straits, and that couldn't come at a worse possible time with Jaxson Dart now under center.
The Giants may have to make a move here, so here are three potential trade targets New York can pursue to replace Nabers.
The Raiders have gotten off to an 0-4 start this season, and it's worth noting that Jakobi Meyers was looking for a new contract before the campaign began.
Meyers is in the final year of his deal, and Las Vegas may want to get something in return for him now before he potentially walks in free agency next March.
The 28-year-old broke out with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns last season and has logged 21 catches for 258 yards thus far in 2025.
Meyers is not a bona fide No. 1 like Nabers, but he is still a very good receiver who could serve as a terrific No. 2 for the Giants once Nabers returns next season. Of course, whether or not New York would actually be able to re-sign Meyers is another discussion.
The Texans traded for Christian Kirk during the offseason, but it hasn't amounted to much for them thus far, as he has logged just six catches for 45 yards.
Kirk has shown in the past that he can be a very reliable receiver, like back in 2022 when he caught 84 passes for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns with the Arizona Cardinals.
He hasn't been able to match that production since, due much in part to injuries. But the potential is there, and the good thing for the Giants is that he would come very cheap via trade.
It wouldn't be the most exciting addition, but Kirk would at least represent a proven target for Dart.
Would the Giants go this route?
Tyreek Hill is a very obvious trade candidate given the Dolphins' miserable start to the season and the fact that he appeared to want out at end of last year.
However, Hill is 31 years old and has displayed concerning signs of decline since last season. Is it because he has lost a step? Or is it really just because of the quarterback in Miami?
New York almost certainly would not have to part with a first-round pick to land Hill, who has another non-guaranteed year remaining on his contract. So if things don't work out, the Giants could always just cut their losses.
The idea of a Nabers-Hill tandem in 2026 is beyond tantalizing, though, so this is at least something Big Blue should consider.
